My report about Chinese and Vietnamese tourist behavior




Report on Outbound Chinese and Vietnamese Tourists

The similarities on Chinese and Vietnamese Tourists' Behavior:

There are five dimensions were identified for the similarities of Chinese and Vietnamese tourists: perception of communication, values of family/competence, interaction, rules of feelings display and satisfaction। The above has disposed us about the Asian tourists’ behavior for the western hosts to respect their own cultural values, which help that host country can understand the guests' behavior to meet the tourists’ requirement and provide the better services.
The Differences on Chinese and Vietnamese Tourists' Behavior

Chinese Tourists' Behavior

There are two main categories of visitors who travel as part of tour group and private purposes to the outbound tourists.

Most Chinese tourists like to travel abroad for going shopping, settling down, studying abroad and visiting family and relatives. They always plan to travel as a tour group (package tour). The major reasons of traveling in tour group are lack of experiences of cross-border interaction and travel ,their foreign language is not fluently, it is hard to get a tourist visa by own ,and tour group help tourists reduce the expenses and get together to be safer.

Today, we can see that the niche destinations for Chinese tourists are considered such as; France, New Zealand, Maldives, England, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Korean, Japan, Vietnam, Laos. And, let us say as our own phrasal noun “Chinese Speak the International Language of Shopping-CSILS”. It means that when Chinese tourists travel abroad, they especially like going shopping. It became their traveling favorite and so well-known that we compared their behavior as an international language such as English spoken in over the world.
Specifically, we should know that Chinese tourists don’t only travel for some main purposes such as going shopping, settling down, studying abroad, cultural learning or visiting Family and relatives (Chinese present all over the world), but they travel for social and cultural values as well. The above evidences have shown that almost traveled to destinations that are familiar with their social and cultural values such as: Asian countries have been emerging as niche market to Chinese tourists.

On the other hand, they might travel for business /Trade through international exhibition, convention, conference, and meeting. In addition, Chinese tourists also were well-known travelers for tradition of trading through centuries

Most of Chinese are eager to go abroad as they had been living under a closed-door policy for a long period of time. In line with economic changes and advances, higher income and simplified procedure, it’s predicted that the Chinese outbound tourists will increase to 5.6 million within next a few years .And, it is more and more significant for Chineses' and the World’s outbound tourism industry to understand Chinese tourists’ travel behaviors and promote the tourist industry in Pacific-Asian region and even all over the World.

Vietnamese Tourists' Behavior

To sum up, Vietnamese outbound tourists’ behavior has a bit the same with other Asian tourists. But they mostly have many different points over neighboring countries’ behavior of tourists. Its war history might be a valuable answer that affects their traveling behavior. In the war time, amount of numerous Vietnamese remarkably migrated to some common countries such as the USA, France, Germany, Russia and Japan. After the war ended, most of Vietnamese outbound travelers intended to escape a poor country that the war mostly destroyed everything, and to find chances to approach new civilization of the modern countries. What is more, Vietnameses are interested in traveling abroad to find out what they don’t know.

Secondly, Visiting Family and Relatives (VFR) is also one of main purposes of their overseas trips .Simply, because of the war, so they still keep contacting their family and relatives or friends who went far away from the Vietnamese fighting front to survive and settle in a new country. They want to meet up with each other again as all old relationships, and that is reasons of trips.

Moreover, now Vietnam has been developing its economics quickly, and its GDP was ranked the second to China in Asia. Its growth gained nearly 8% per year. So, its outbound tourist industry has been developing faster than our expectation as well. The demand and the need for Vietnamese outbound travelers are gradually turning into other dimensions such as; the reasons for their trips are to run or co-operate business /trade, and go shopping. Gradually, so many tourists travel to the cross-border countries to go shopping the cheap and qualified goods in other countries such as: China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos and Cambodia

The foreign language level of Vietnamese people is high, and their curiosity that helps them be self confident to travel abroad. Moreover, they expect something in destination similar with their own country such as food, accommodation, weather, geography. As they strongly respected the neighbor and community factors. They would like something similar with their own country to spend in every destination.

Trips for co-operating business/trade are popularized in some intended countries such as the USA, France, Singapore, Japan, Korean, Thailand and Malaysia.

Fourthly, the following are also the purposes of Vietnamese outbound tourists are to travel for hedonistic, cultural and geographical. But, a number of these fields are limited in comparison with other countries such as Thailand, Singapore, China and Malaysia.

In conclusion, Vietnam and China had a longstanding relationship. So, the similarities about the culture and people are significantly considered. Both of those countries partly help us understand more about an emerging Asia strongly in any field all over the world .Especially, their tourist industry will make them wealthier than the past as a certainly result.
